A great tool for preparing for BUD/s is the PowerLung:

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0001FAU5Y/thesealquest-20/002-1869054-9660037?dev-t=mason-wrapper%26camp=2025%26link_code=xm2

A lot of BUD/S students are using this product.

Breathing while you exercise is only exercise for your lung muscles, it is not training. PowerLung is the only product to threshold resistance train in the same breath the muscles used to inhale and exhale. You can increase your endurance and your performance when you train the muscles you use to breathe without drugs or supplements.

Regardless of your sport or activity, whether you are a performance athlete or just starting a fitness program, PowerLung can help improve your breathing, muscle strength, oxygen delivery, and performance.

PowerLung Sport:

This model provides a serious workout at a high level of resistance. The PowerLung Sport offers users the optimum in isolated threshold resistance strength training. Who gets the most benefit from PowerLung Sport?

Elite athletes, professional and amateurs who strenuously train 4 or more hours per week

People whose occupations demand intense oxygen delivery such as fire, police, rescue personnel and divers to name but a few

People whose occupations, or vocations, require strong breath control activity such as those who act, sing, play brass and woodwind instruments or are public speakers.

Each of these groups of people are accustomed to breath control and using it to address the demands placed on their respiratory system during work of play.

PowerLung does what wind sprints, breath control, yoga, pilates, or deep breathing exercise can not do. PowerLung strength trains your breathing muscles so they can meet the demands you place on your respiratory system. PowerLung makes any breath control activity or exercise more effective.

I personally have been using this for the past 2-3 months. It is great and very good investment.

Does it help with long distance breathing or is it specifically for sprints and short term breathes?

The Power lung is going to help with your breathing mechanics and efficiency. It will help mostly with long distance since sprints are anaerobic and oxygen doesn't play much of a role. But, long distance activities like the beach runs and oceans swims is where the Power Lung will be worth the money. It will help to increase your VO2Max and help you to relax when you need to for instance during the underwater swim. Your respiratory muscles will be conditioned and your lung capacity will be increased so when you go for that breath hold prior to starting the underwater swim you will get the oxygen your body will need.

I feel this tool is a must have for all BUD/S students and SEALs. Kale and I are going to order a couple for ourselves.

Could we contact someone to see if you could get a better rate by buying a few, rather than everyone buying them at full price on there own? Much like a group buy?
