Are BUD/S candidates allowed to wear watches during training? If so, are there any specific limitations to the type of watch?
The reason I ask is because I always find it comforting to know my time while I'm on a run, especially while preparing for the 4 mile timed runs. I just have a cheap watch with a stopwatch, nothing fancy.

No watches for anyone besides the OIC/LPO. Second phase we're issued G-shocks.

Out of curiosity, why aren't people allowed to have watches? To increase the responsibility of the OIC and LPO? To reduce the constant glance at watches or to make the days seem longer? Or all/none of the above.
Just curious really.

Watches allow people to pace themselves, whether it be a swim or run. Instructors don't want that, they want you to just put out all the time. Also, evolutions generally last 2 hours so it kinda adds to the stress when you've been doing log PT for what seems like forever and you really have no idea how much longer you have.
