What are you guys using for training shorts? I know I could get a pair of UDT shorts, but I don't want to be that guy. Still, I need a new training suit, and I suppose I could spring for the real thing. I don't necessarily want a jammer or speedo style suit (too little resistance), but something that packs small and dries easily.

I train for triathlons and Masters swimming in addition to my BUD/s and PST prep, so my needs might be different than yours, but I typically use a speedo with a drag suit over top of it. The drag suit, for those unfamiliar with it, is similar to the speedo, but is a longer cut, is baggier, and has two layers, the outer of which is usually mesh and can even have little pockets, the objective being to add resistance in the water.
If you go to a Swim-Zone or a place that specializes in swimming products, be sure to get practice suits, if possible; there can be quite a price difference between the competition and training suits, and for your purposes (I assume) you don't need a Fastskin or whatever.
