Mr.Pais, I have been thinking about it and all that you said really is the situation I am in. I am not all that into school right now and do feel that I need to start to pursue the career that I plan to have. My heart has always been with the military. I have family history in the military. I have numerous cousins in the military and my father and his brother have been in the military. I feel obligated to join just because of my love for our country. When I think about the reasons that I have to join it seems that it should be one of my easiest decisions, but I keep having people tell me that my education is so important, when they don't understand that I am not looking to join the service for the money but for the people that have made the same decision that I plan to make. I want to be around the guys that have same values and drive as I do and I cant find any of those guys in college. Wow I feel like I just got out of control with my description, but that is how I feel. I just seem to be having more trouble then I expected when making this decision.

You are faced with a difficult situation. As everyone stated before the decision is yours and leaving college to go into the Navy is something you will have to deal with.

My advice to you is to give school another semester. Come down to Tampa the next time you see a 36 hour challenge posted on this site and get a taste of what BUD/s might be like and see how you react to it. (Make sure you come in the winter..its way more fun Big Grin ) I think going down, meeting a few SEAL/s and learning from them, all while you get to experience some pain would help you make your decision. You will have 36 hours to think about this and trust me you will think about it. I really think it would help.

I think I will do that. I get three or four weeks off during December. I am in Gainesville right now so I think I will be able to do that. How often are the 36 hour challenge's posted.

It just depends on when they have them. It seems like one pops up aroud every 3-4 months sometimes more often. They are usually over the weekend so you don't need an extended period of time off to go to one.
