I was a NSW Officer Trainee in OCS over a year ago. I DOR'd early on for no good reason at all. I don't want to focus on that. I came home, started grad school, but the "bug" never left me.

I've been back over a year, and I have tried applying to several different officer programs, but "this or that" has kept me out. I'd like to think things happen for a reason. It's all pushed me back to want to do the job that only SEALs do.

When I quit, I'll tell you I lost something in myself that I know there's only one way to retrieve. I had an honor and respect for myself when I was pursuing the SEAL quest, and it vanished the moment I gave it up.

Anyways, moral of the story is I want to go back and I want to go enlisted. It took me over 2 years of hardcore training and applying to get my SEAL officer billet. I'm not interested in going through that process again.

I'm wanting to leave in roughly 4 months from now if possible. That 4 months would just be time for me to get back in shape. But I honestly don't know much about the process, experience, do's and don'ts, etc. of the SEAL Challenge (contract).

I know it's very different from the O process. If anyone is up to catching me up to speed before I sign, that'd be great.

If you want to leave in four months, get to your recruiter's office and head to MEPS two months ago. You may be able to swing some "advanced placement" if you're completely eligible and have great scores, but otherwise there are now significant waiting periods, and few if any get pushed in quickly.

From my own previous experiences and things I've read about after the fact, getting the SEAL contract is relatively easy. Previously you had to sign a paper with a passing ASVAB. Now I think you have to DEP under a different source rating then pass the PST before leaving or immediately after arriving.

Step one for you should be contacting your recruiter and getting the ball rolling. Step two should be contacting your local SEAL motivator and getting on his good side. Train with him while in DEP and get yourself ready to go.

If you previously qualified for an officer billet, you should be a primo candidate for going enlisted. Just don't bring up your previous experience.

Just out of curiosity, did you DOR while at BUD/S, or before you ever got there?

Are you still in the Navy as an officer? Or are you out of the Navy now? After BUD/S did you continue on in the Navy as an officer but under a different designator?

Did you complete OCS? I wonder if you are eligible for an enlisted contract. What do you think Mario?

RE-3K Honorable Discharge from OCS. They held me at OCS 6 weeks past when I DORd, but let me out scratch-free (i.e. no commission). After I quit, I was shocked that I did, and they offered to redesignate me. I knew there was no turning back because they wouldn't let me back in 1180. Also, if I chose to re-enter and re-designate, what if I came to realize that I wanted to still go SEALs? Then there'd be no way out of being an officer for 8 years. It's apparently not uncommon that OCS Specwar Billet guys DOR at OCS because as I was entering my holding period, another specwar candidate was leaving from DOR, and there was one ahead of him that went DOR who I think I was sent to replace. That's just for insight...

I hope this info answers your questions and spurns further insight. I appreciate your feedback and comments. At this point, I'm trying to get back in the game, and I know TSQ can help me do that.
